Pakistan's military rejects UN report alleging hundreds of civilian deaths in strikes on Afghanistan

Pakistan's military denied a UN report alleging nearly 500 civilian deaths and over 1,000 injuries in cross-border strikes on Afghanistan, claiming targets were militant hideouts. Spokesman Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry criticized UNAMA and Amnesty International for relying on Afghan accounts and accused Afghanistan's Taliban government of harboring militants. A March airstrike on a Kabul drug-treatment center, which killed hundreds, was defended as targeting militant infrastructure.
