Oprah Winfrey says she will close her school for girls in South Africa next year

Oprah Winfrey will close her school for underprivileged girls in South Africa at the end of next year, following a plan to transfer the campus to the provincial education department. The school, opened in 2007 with inspiration from Nelson Mandela, will continue its mission through a national scholarship program for academically talented girls.
