New solar panels in Great Britain at 15-year high as fossil fuel costs soar

Great Britain added 142,536 new solar power installations in the first half of 2026, the highest six-month total since 2011, as rising fossil fuel costs drive households and businesses to adopt solar energy. The boom in solar farms and home installations began shortly after the start of the US-Israel war against Iran.
