Louisiana modernizes access to WIC food assistance benefits
Louisiana is introducing a new benefits card for its WIC program, effective August 1, allowing remote benefit uploads and eliminating the need for in-person renewals. The program supports low-income pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under five, with benefits covering specific food items like formula, fruits, and vegetables. Participants began receiving the cards in June and must set a numeric passcode for use.
