How native livestock is reducing the risk of wildfires in Spain's Galicia region
In Spain's Galicia region, native goats, sheep, and cows, including the Cachena breed, are reducing wildfire risks by grazing on flammable undergrowth. The region, which experienced Spain's worst wildfire year in 2025 with nearly 119,000 hectares burned, has seen increased use of this initiative.
