‘Lenin was an enemy of humanity’: Why Kyiv wants to put Cossack chief statue in place of Soviet leader
Kyiv plans to replace a Soviet-era statue of Lenin with one of Cossack leader Ivan Mazepa, following the removal of such monuments after Russia's 2014 Crimea annexation and 2022 invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed the change, stating Mazepa should stand where Lenin once did.
