Malaysia moves to protect local firms as cheap Chinese goods fill market

Malaysia is increasing scrutiny of foreign-run businesses to address competition concerns from Chinese goods, aiming to balance Chinese investment and affordable consumer products with protections for local small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Tengku Zafrul Aziz, chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, cited government social media analysis as part of these efforts.
