Londoners are leaving in droves

London’s population declined for the first time since the pandemic as over 400,000 residents left the capital to other UK regions. The exodus, driven by 30- to 40-year-olds with children, was attributed to a cost of living crisis, slower pay growth, higher unemployment, and a drop in student enrollments leading to school closures and funding cuts.
