Drivers going to Galveston face I-45 lane closures, extended detour starting Aug. 7

Drivers heading to Galveston will encounter lane closures and detours on I-45 starting August 7, part of a two-year project to widen the highway to eight lanes. The closures are between FM 519 and Tiki Drive, with a reroute near Texas City.
