Concern persists as former Three Mile Island nuclear plant progresses toward 2027 restart

The former Three Mile Island nuclear plant's Unit 1, renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center, is progressing toward a 2027 restart under Constellation Energy's $1.6 billion revival plan. The project, part of a partnership with Microsoft to power AI data centers, involves federal emergency preparedness reviews and will create 600 jobs. The reactor, unaffected by the 1979 partial meltdown, will supply 835 megawatts of electricity to the regional grid.
