unCommon Construction brings workforce development model to Baton Rouge

unCommon Construction, a New Orleans-based nonprofit, is expanding its paid construction apprenticeship program to Baton Rouge with support from two foundations. The program offers students ages 16-20 hourly pay, school credit, and skills training, with project revenue funding scholarships for continuing education or employment tools. Past participants in New Orleans have shown high high school graduation and post-graduation employment rates.
