Zimbabwe gets its first lithium processing plant

Zimbabwe opened its first lithium sulfate processing plant, operated by China’s Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe, as part of efforts to add value to its mining sector. The government has halted raw mineral exports ahead of a full ban next year, with plans to expand processing to lithium carbonate and eventually produce batteries and solar panels domestically.
