Invasive species discovered for 1st time in North Carolina at Charlotte-area home

An invasive yellow-legged hornet species was discovered for the first time in North Carolina near a Matthews home. The hornets, identified as aggressive pests threatening honeybees and pollinators, prompted increased surveillance and over 200 traps in the area.
