Nationwide iPhone scam probe widens
The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has uncovered an organized scam involving the import and clearance of an iPhone 16, implicating FedEx, Customs officials, and private individuals. A complainant paid taxes for an iPhone 16 Plus sent via FedEx but was denied delivery despite documentation, with a forged authority letter allegedly used to transfer the device. The FTO has ordered an investigation into potential widespread fraud and recommended stricter procedures for courier clearances.
