Pompano Beach commissioners voted to continue a new contract with the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) due to cost and access to specialized units. The agreement, costing $71 million for the next fiscal year, includes a 5% annual rate increase cap and a 90-day termination clause. A city police department would take three years to establish, according to Commissioner Darlene Smith.
