Effective Investigative Interviewing Without Torture: Lessons from the Méndez Principles Five Years On

The appointment of Dr. Pau Pérez-Sales as UN special rapporteur on torture coincides with the fifth anniversary of the Méndez Principles, an international framework promoting effective interviewing to reduce torture. Implementation of the Principles has expanded across 24 languages and multiple regions, with Guatemala recently engaging the Organization of American States to develop training initiatives based on the framework.
