Firefighters in France hold back vast wildfire as heat returns to test their grip

Firefighters in southwest France have stabilized a large wildfire near the Atlantic coast, preventing its spread overnight despite threats from rising temperatures and low humidity. The blaze, which has burned 420 square kilometers and forced 220,000 evacuations, remains fragile, with 93 injured firefighters and ongoing efforts to create firebreaks. In neighboring Landes, a separate wildfire was contained, allowing thousands of evacuees to return home.
