Hong Kong’s wild boar population halves under capture-and-kill strategy
Hong Kong’s wild boar population has decreased by more than half since 2021 due to a capture-and-kill policy, which saw 723 boars culled last year—a tenfold increase from previous years. The policy, costing HK$105.6 million, correlated with an 80% decline in boar-related injuries.
