From the vault: An inside look at Gordie Howe International Bridge while under construction
The Gordie Howe International Bridge, connecting Detroit and Windsor, Canada, is set to open on July 27 after construction began in July 2018. Initially scheduled for a 2025 opening, the bridge is the second to link the cities, following the 1929 Ambassador Bridge. In 2023, crews focused on completing the road deck before bridge deck work, with towers on both sides of the Detroit River reaching a final height of 722 feet.
