China’s Fields Medals triumph raises bigger math questions

Hong Wang and Yu Deng became the first citizens of the People’s Republic of China to receive Fields Medals, mathematics’ highest honor, at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Philadelphia. Wang is also the third woman to receive the award.
