Federal judge says certain abortion drug restrictions are unlawful

A federal judge ruled that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 2023 restrictions on mifepristone, a drug used to terminate early pregnancies, are unlawful and require review. The restrictions, challenged by abortion providers in Kansas, Montana, and Virginia, include mandatory certification for pharmacies and clinicians and risk acknowledgment forms, which plaintiffs argue are excessive and medically unnecessary.
