Gangs taking villages on Brazil-Peru border ‘hostage’, say Indigenous leaders

Indigenous leaders on the Brazil-Peru border claim their communities are being held hostage by organized crime groups destroying the Amazon Forest, building roads, and trafficking drugs. Masked armed men recently entered homes in Apiwtxa village, part of the Kampa do Rio Amônia Indigenous Territory, intimidating residents.
