Firefighters, biologists work together to rescue Uncompahgre cutthroat from charred forest
Colorado Parks and Wildlife scientists and firefighters rescued 103 Uncompahgre cutthroat trout with the last genetic remnants of native cutthroats from Nate Creek in the smoldering Gold Mountain Fire. The collaboration aimed to protect the fish from the fire's impact.
