Study shows which states are seeing the biggest reductions in SNAP benefits

A study by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that SNAP participation in the U.S. has dropped by 11% (4.5 million people) since the implementation of the Budget Reconciliation Act of 2025 in July 2025. Arizona saw the largest decline at 55%, followed by Louisiana (21%), Florida (19%), and Oklahoma (18%). The law included spending cuts to SNAP, with Republicans citing the need to balance safety net programs and reduce waste.
