Vance Boelter was sentenced to two life terms plus 40 years for killing Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and wounding state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. Boelter admitted to six federal charges, including stalking and shooting the lawmakers, and the U.S. Department of Justice did not seek the death penalty.
