Heatwave-fuelled wildfires rage in southern France, Italy and Spain

Wildfires fueled by a heatwave are raging in Sicily, southwestern France, and central Spain, resulting in three firefighter deaths and thousands of evacuations. Temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, with hot winds intensifying the fires. Around 6,000 firefighters and officials are battling the flames using water-bombing aircraft.
