Police identify O.C. man fatally shot amid mental health crisis

A 20-year-old man named Daniel Alfons Meltvedt was fatally shot by Irvine police during a mental health crisis. He had called the Irvine Police Department on July 21, stating he was armed with a knife and expressed intent to harm himself and possibly others.
