Exxon can pursue suit over contaminated oil at Baton Rouge refinery
Exxon Mobil Corp. can pursue negligence claims against Chevron, TotalEnergies, contractors, and pipeline operators over contaminated crude oil delivered to its Baton Rouge refinery in 2025. The oil, from the Anchor Project, had abnormal impurities that damaged equipment and mixed with clean crude. A judge rejected motions to dismiss claims, citing unresolved factual questions about liability.
