Romel McMurry, a Rutherford County commissioner candidate, was charged with misdemeanor theft after Murfreesboro police investigated the alleged theft of a campaign sign belonging to his opponent, Pat Clements. The sign contained an AirTag, and McMurry turned himself in before a scheduled court appearance on August 24.
