The US House of Representatives passed a $1.15tn defense policy bill in a near-party-line vote, with Democrats opposing it due to ongoing conflict with Iran and Donald Trump’s proposal to impose new voting restrictions. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), part of a $1.5tn military spending plan for 2027, cleared the Republican-controlled chamber by a 216-212 vote, with seven Republicans also opposing it. The measure now moves to the Senate.
