Feds sued over extending deadline to limit ‘super polluter’ gases used in refrigerators
A coalition of 18 state attorneys general sued the Trump administration over the EPA's decision to weaken regulations on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), powerful greenhouse gases used in refrigeration. The lawsuit challenges the extension of compliance deadlines for industries, reversing a Biden-era rule aiming to reduce HFC use by 85% by 2036. The American Innovation and Manufacturing Act, passed in 2020, established the original framework for phasing out HFCs.
