I-TEAM: Former officer accused of beating partner formally charged

A Baton Rouge police officer accused of strangling his partner was formally charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, second-degree battery, and aggravated assault with a firearm. The incident occurred during an argument when the officer allegedly kicked in a bedroom door, strangled the woman, and pointed a gun at her and her child. He previously separated from the department in August 2023 after an unrelated incident involving a handcuffed man.
