Explosion in Indian hydropower project tunnel leaves 11 dead and 14 missing
A suspected methane gas explosion in a tunnel under construction for India's 500-megawatt Teesta hydroelectric project in Sikkim killed 11 people and left 14 missing. Toxic gases and hazardous conditions hampered rescue efforts, with 27 people initially trapped and six officials from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation also becoming trapped during rescue attempts.
