Community-Building Program Targets Division in Small Towns

Community Works, a project under the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative (RUBI), organizes volunteers in seven states for non-political efforts like community cleanups and food distribution. The program, which requires leaders to attend local Democratic committee meetings but is not run by the party, has chapters in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, aiming to rebuild trust and reduce polarization in rural areas.
