Detroit nonprofit helps Black developers turn vacant properties into thriving neighborhoods

Black Leaders Detroit, a nonprofit, launched a building fund offering no-interest loans up to $150,000 and training to Black developers to renovate vacant properties in Detroit. Keith Buford, a developer who renovated 21 homes since 2021, highlighted the fund's role in overcoming financial barriers by providing partial loans upfront. The initiative aims to ensure local Detroiters benefit from the city's growth by lowering capital access hurdles.
