WTA introduces gene testing for all players on women's tennis tour

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has introduced mandatory gene testing for all players, effective immediately, to align with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) eligibility policy for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The policy requires testing for the SRY gene, which indicates biological sex, and distinguishes this from gender identity, while facing criticism from human rights experts and activist groups.
