Tropical depression nearing U.S. Gulf Coast set to become a tropical storm, forecasters say

A tropical depression in the northern Gulf of Mexico is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm, bringing potential flooding from heavy rain and damaging winds that could topple trees and power lines across several states this week.
