Minnesota man sentenced for $3M tax fraud scheme

A Minnesota man was sentenced to 30 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.2 million in restitution for leading a $3 million tax fraud scheme involving over 100 fraudulent returns filed between April 2022 and May 2023. The scheme used stolen identities and false employment and income information to claim refundable tax credits tied to pandemic-era benefits.
