7-year-old accidentally shoots himself after finding gun in Charlotte home, police say

A 7-year-old boy accidentally shot himself after finding a handgun in a southeast Charlotte home on July 19. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and released, while a family member is under investigation. The case remains under investigation as of July 20, 2026.
