Study tests whether ALS patient’s brain signals can control smart-home devices

A man with ALS is participating in a clinical trial at Johns Hopkins Medicine testing a brain-computer interface (BCI) to control smart-home devices using brain signals. The implanted BCI achieved a 90% accuracy rate over three months, allowing the patient to operate lights and a television without movement or speech.
