France: 2,000 hectares lost in forest fires
France has lost 2,000 hectares to forest fires following record-breaking heatwaves, with the Fontainebleau forest being one of the hardest-hit areas. The government stated this is the highest number of fire outbreaks since World War II, and the Fondation du Patrimoine has launched a fundraising campaign to replant the damaged woodland.
