NYC Council gives itself an 18.2% raise — but Mamdani and Menin say no thanks
The NYC City Council approved an 18.2% raise for its members and other elected officials, with Julie Menin and Zohran Mamdani declining the increased salaries. The legislation, based on a commission's recommendations, sets new pay levels for the mayor, public advocate, comptroller, borough presidents, and others, effective retroactively from January 1, 2026.
