A former prime minister who led Israel out of Lebanon fears mistakes are being repeated
Ehud Barak, who led Israel's 2000 withdrawal from Lebanon, warns that Israel's current military presence in southern Lebanon risks repeating past strategic failures. Israel now occupies much of southern Lebanon after an invasion in March 2024, with Defense Minister Israel Katz asserting the need for prolonged occupation to counter Hezbollah threats.
