Venezuela’s new amnesty law makes political prisoner’s release possible

Venezuela's government released political prisoner José 'Mazuco' Sánchez from a high-security prison near Caracas, citing a new amnesty law enacted on Feb. 19 under interim President Delcy Rodríguez. Sánchez, who has multiple health issues, was arrested in 2024 by the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN) and had previously been imprisoned from 2007 to 2011.
