US to tighten visa regulations for foreign students, journalists
The Trump administration announced new visa regulations limiting F, J, and I visas to fixed durations, including four years for students and exchange workers, and up to 240 days (or 90 days for Chinese nationals) for journalists. The rule, effective 60 days after Federal Register publication, includes restrictions on changing schools or programs and reduces the post-graduation departure period. China's foreign ministry criticized the proposed rule for Chinese journalists as discriminatory.
