The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has initiated suo motu proceedings in Kerala's Chalakkudi tree-felling case. Trees were felled along an 18-km stretch from Vellikulangara Junction to Vettila Pala bridge and sold for ₹8.52 lakh, which is significantly lower than the assessed value of ₹41.55 lakh.
