Survey: Californians really don’t want more data centers
A survey by the Public Policy Institute of California reveals 73% of Californians oppose building AI data centers in their communities. Environmental concerns and high energy costs drive opposition, with strongest resistance in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Bay Area. Over 60% also oppose Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2035 gas car ban and are hesitant to pay more for renewable energy.
