DTE: Underground cable failures cause extended outage for thousands in northwest Detroit

DTE Energy reported that two underground cable failures caused an extended power outage affecting nearly 8,000 northwest Detroit residents. Approximately 5,000 customers remain without power as DTE works on two parallel restoration paths and deploys 15 utility-sized generators. The outage spans multiple neighborhoods, and cooling centers have been established to assist residents during extreme heat.
