Wisconsin DNR buys new equipment with restitution from kayaker who faked his death

The Wisconsin DNR purchased a towfish sonar unit using $9,000 in restitution from Ryan Borgwadt, who faked his death in a 2024 boating incident. The equipment, used in four missions, has already helped locate two missing people and aids in underwater searches, environmental responses, and protecting submerged resources.
