Trump to become first sitting president on US currency with new $1 coin

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a new $1 gold coin featuring President Donald Trump to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This will make Trump the first sitting U.S. president on American currency. The U.S. Mint previously issued coins for deceased presidents and other themes, but production of $1 coins has been limited since 2011 due to surplus.
